Your first day.
Already planned.

Every member starts the same way — a free consultation, then a week of one-on-one coaching we call Foundations. Nobody walks into a class cold. Here’s exactly how it works.

5.0 on Google

How it works

Three steps.
No guesswork.

01

Book a free consult

Twenty minutes with a coach. We talk goals, training history, and what your week actually looks like. No sales pitch — if we’re not the right fit, we’ll say so.

02

Do your Foundations week

A week of one-on-one coaching. Learn the basics, set a baseline, understand your body. Every member starts here — no exceptions, no shortcuts.

03

Train with your people

Group classes with three levels on one floor, coached every rep. Beginners next to 10-year athletes, nobody compromising, good people on every side of you.

We reply the same day. A real coach, not a bot.

Step one

What happens
at the consult.

It’s a conversation, not a sales pitch. You sit down with a coach, and you leave knowing exactly what your first month would look like — whether or not you join.

The talk

Your goals, your training history, and the week you actually live — the job, the kids, the travel, the old injuries. All of it shapes the plan.

The tour

Walk the floor, watch how a class runs, meet whoever’s coaching. Five minutes here tells you more than any website.

The honest part

If we’re not the right fit, we’ll tell you. Nothing to sign that day, no countdown clock. You leave with a clear plan either way.

Step two

The Foundations
week.

A week of one-on-one coaching before you ever join a class. Every member starts here. It’s non-negotiable — and it’s the reason nobody gets thrown into the deep end on day one.

The basics

The movement patterns behind every class we run, taught one-on-one at your pace. Own the movement before you ever load it.

Your baseline

An honest look at where you’re starting — strength, conditioning, how your body moves. Progress only counts when you know the starting line.

Your level

Every class runs at three levels. By the end of the week you’ll know exactly which one is yours — and so will your coaches.

Level 1 · Learn it

New, or coming back after years off. Own the movement before you load it. Nobody rushes you.

Level 2 · Build it

Solid mechanics, growing engine. Where most members live — and get strong for years.

Level 3 · Test it

For the seasoned athlete chasing an edge. Bigger loads, same standard, a coach watching anyway.

Before you walk in

What to wear.
What to bring.

The short version: keep it simple. This is the easiest part of the whole thing.

Wear

Anything you can move in. A t-shirt, shorts or joggers, and flat, stable shoes.

Bring

A water bottle. That’s it — the programming, the plan, and the coaching are on us.

Arrive

About ten minutes early, so your coach can meet you before the work starts.

Nerves

Totally normal. Bring them too. They rarely survive the first week.

The part you’re worried about

Too out of shape?
No such thing.

The thing we hear most from new members: “I should get in shape before I come in.” You don’t. That’s exactly what Foundations is for — one-on-one with a coach, no class to keep up with, no crowd watching. In 13 years, nobody has ever been too out of shape to start properly.

“Your best years aren’t behind you. You just haven’t been trained properly yet. We fix the belief, then we forge the body.”

“My favorite place on earth, no joke. The community is like nothing else. Everyone is warm and kind. There’s something really special about this place.”
— Ashley K., member
“I’ve lost 30 lbs, I have more energy than I’ve had in years, and I actually look forward to working out. I wish I started sooner.”
— Marcus C., member

FAQ

Asked every week.

Is Black Iron Athletics beginner-friendly?

Yes — on purpose. Every member starts with a free consultation and a one-on-one Foundations week, and every class runs at three levels, so you’re never pushed past what you’re ready for. Our coaches scale every workout to your ability from day one.

What types of classes do you offer?

Strength & Conditioning group classes are the heart of Black Iron — programmed, cycled, and coached every rep. We also offer personal training and real-human nutrition coaching. Open gym members train self-directed 7 days a week with access to all our programming, including official HYROX affiliate programming from HYROX HQ. The snatch, clean and jerk, and the barbell work behind them are in our programming year-round. The dedicated weightlifting block is a seasonal specialty that runs a few times a year.

What’s included in my membership?

Standard is $200 a month — three Strength & Conditioning classes a week, a monthly body-composition scan, and community events. Unlimited + Open Gym is $240 and adds unlimited classes plus open gym 7 days a week. Open Gym Only is $50. Personal training runs $120–150 an hour. Military and first responders get 5% off any membership, and a $30 day pass is credited toward your first month if you join.

What makes Black Iron different from other gyms?

We’re veteran-owned and coach-led, and the gym has been in Frisco since 2013. Every member starts with a one-on-one Foundations week, every class runs at three levels on one floor, and a coach watches every rep. We don’t just give you access — we give you guidance, accountability, and good people who want to see you succeed.
